What is a set-in sleeve sweater?
A sweater with set-in sleeves refers to a sweater where the join between the body and sleeve sits along the top of the shoulder.
There are many ways to knit this type of sweater. During this workshop, we'll be knitting our sweaters from the top down using either a contiguous or simultaneous method of knitting the sweater (we'll discuss exactly what that means during the class!).
Class Supplies
You'll need to choose a top-down set-in sleeve sweater pattern (a list of possible choices is included) and purchase the appropriate yarn and needles for completing the sweater.

Preliminary Assignments
During the first two weeks we'll focus on the basic skills every knitter needs to have for sweater success–yarn selection, swatching, gauge measurements, body measurements, choosing the right size to knit, and even calculating how much yarn you'll need to knit your sweater.
Knitting the Yoke
The yoke of a top-down sweater is the most important part–learn how to choose a base size or combine two sizes for a perfect fit. You'll also discover how to adjust neckline shapes (you could even turn a crewneck into a V-neck!).
Separating the Body and Sleeves
When it's time to divide the body and sleeves, you've finished the most important part of your sweater but there's still more to discuss–checking your work in progress for a perfect fit and adding bust shaping with bust darts.
All About Body Shaping
If you've ever been dissatisfied with the fit of your boxy sweaters, it's time to learn about shaping. In this section you'll discover how to use shaping rates along with your gauge information to add waist and hip shaping to your sweater.
Working on the Sleeves
The end of your custom-fit sweater is almost in sight when you're working on the sleeves. Learn how to pick up stitches so there are no gaps at the underarm and how to use the all-important shaping rate to re-calculate and adjust the sleeve length for a perfect fit.
Finishing (but not the end!)
Proper finishing is an important step for a sweater that is custom fit! Learn how to pick up neckline stitches and finish the neckline neatly. Best of all, you'll be able to apply everything you've learned to all your future sweater projects!

How do I access the course?

How long will I have access to the course?
You will have lifetime access to the course (in other words, as long as my knitting business exists you will have full access to the course and any updated material that is added in the future).
You can go through the lessons at your own pace and revisit them anytime you need a refresher.
I'm a new sweater knitter - is this course right for me?
